Colonel Peter Evans
COL Peter (Pete) Evans is a native of Enterprise, Alabama. He holds a Masters Degree
is Strategic Studies from the Army War College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Education (Human Movement Studies) from Auburn University and a Certificate in Legislative
Studies from the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University.
Prior to his selection to attend the Army War College Strategic Studies Program,
he commanded the Ft. Bliss Wounded Warrior Transition Battalion from 2008-2010.
Before assignment to command he was stationed in Washington D.C. and served as the
Military Legislative Assistant to Senator Pete Domenici (NM) thru the Army Congressional
Fellowship Program. While stationed at the Pentagon, he also served on the Army
staff as the Legislative Liaison to the Chief of the Army Reserve.
Commissioned through Army ROTC as a Field Artillery Officer, his military assignments
include duties as a Fire Support Officer, Platoon Leader, Battery Executive Officer,
Battery Commander, Field Artillery Observer/Controller, Heavy Engineer Battalion
Intelligence Officer (S2), Training Brigade Intel/Operations Officer (S2/3), Training
Division Plans Officer (S3), Liaison Officer 8th Army (Republic of Korea) and assistant
Division Operations Officer (G3).
During a break in military service to pursue a civilian career (1991-1998) he worked
in Outpatient Rehabilitation, specializing in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Industrial
Rehabilitation (Work Hardening/Reconditioning) at St. Vincent’s Medical Center,
Birmingham, Alabama. He is also a certified Firefighter/EMT with eight years experience
working structure fires, wild-land fires and fireboat operations both part-time
and volunteer.
He is a member at large of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of the
National Rifle Association the Reserve Officers Association, the Association of
the U.S. Army and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. His awards and Decorations
include: the Meritorious service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement
Medal, Army Achievement Medal, the Army Staff Badge, the Honorable Order of Saint
Barbara, the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (Gold), and the
Royal Netherlands Shooters Badge in gold.
